Celery is a plant. The fruit and seeds of the plants are dried and pressed to make oil out of it to use it for making medicines. Celery oil is marketed in capsule form also. Celery juice can be consumed as medicine.
Celery seeds should be used whole because of their small size and ground seeds taste better as whole. Celery seed can be used in dishes such as soup stocks, mayonnaise dressings, or meatloaf because of its warm and bitter flavor.
The high levels of potassium, sodium, and other minerals in celery makes it an ideal addition to homemade juices especially for consumption after an athletic workout. Celery leaves are high in vitamin A, whilst the stems are an excellent source of vitamins B1, B2, B6 and C and dense in potassium, folic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus, sodium and essential amino acids.
Celery is used to treat joint pain, gout, hysteria, nervousness, headache, weight loss due to malnutrition, loss of appetite, and exhaustion and is also used for blood purification.
